About the Independent Tenant Advisers
Who are MRT Housing Plus?
MRT Housing Plus are housing advisers who have worked extensively with tenants and tenants’ groups providing information, advice and support on housing stock transfer. The advisers are Steve Mason, Andy Torrance and Michael Collins.
How did we get involved?
We were selected by tenants’ representatives following a tendering and interview process in 2004.
What is our role?
Our role is to provide free, impartial information, and advice to tenants in Renfrewshire regarding the proposed housing stock transfer.
What is our aim?
Our aim is to ensure that tenants have access to all the facts about transfer so, when you are asked to vote in the ballot, you will be able to make an informed decision.
How we work
As Independent Tenant Advisers:
- we work closely with the Renfrewshire Council Tenants Steering Group to represent tenants’ views to Renfrewshire Council and Renfrewshire Housing Association.
- we meet tenants in local meetings of Tenants & Residents Associations.
- we provide independent information and advice to all tenants through newsletters, the website and our freephone advice line.
Activities to date
In the early days of the transfer process we have focused our efforts on working with the Renfrewshire Council Tenants Steering Group. The Group has given its views to the Council and RHA on a wide range of issues and we have provided members with advice, training and support.
Now that firm proposals have been developed by Renfrewshire Housing Association, we will get the facts to you through our own newsletters.
